How to search, filter, compare, and combine motors
Type a plain-English query into the search bar and press Ask or Enter. Claude AI interprets your query and applies the appropriate filters automatically. If the AI service is unavailable, it falls back to fast keyword matching.
Use the dropdowns below the search bar to narrow results by multiple criteria simultaneously. Each filter supports multi-select — pick as many values as you need.
Click any column header to sort the table by that field — click again to reverse the sort direction. Use the page controls at the bottom of the table to move between pages. The result count updates live as you filter.
Open ⊞ Columns to control the table layout. Your choices are saved in this browser and remembered next visit.
There are two views, and they work together.
Esc steps back one level: it closes the pop-up but keeps your row selected, and closes the selection on a second press. Hide the pane entirely with ◫ Detail pane if you would rather have the width for columns.
Check the checkbox in the first column of any motor row to select it for comparison. Your selections appear in the strip directly above the table.
Click ⛓ Combine motors above the table to open the combination tool. Use this to simulate multi-motor configurations and see the resulting combined performance.
Click Download CSV to export the current filtered result set as a spreadsheet-ready file. The CSV includes all data columns: manufacturer, designation, common name, class, type, diameter, length, weights, thrust stats, propellant, case info, delays, and availability.
The export always uses the full, fixed column set — reordering or hiding columns on screen does not change the file. Apply filters first to export a targeted subset.
Motors labelled with a ⚡ badge use propellants that produce visible sparks in the exhaust. These may require additional certification, waiver provisions, or field approval depending on your launch site and club rules.
Always check with your launch organiser before flying a sparky motor for the first time.
Click ☀ Sunlight in the top bar for a high-contrast light theme built for reading a phone at the field in direct sun. In bright light a dark screen mostly reflects the sky back at you; black text on white keeps its separation.
Turn your screen brightness up too — the theme buys contrast, not brightness.
The tool ships with a pre-built snapshot of the database, then quietly checks ThrustCurve.org in the background on every visit and merges in anything new or changed. Click the ⟳ next to the timestamp at the top to force a full re-pull.
Initial thrust is calculated client-side from published thrust-curve samples, per their stated methodology.
